Royal Oak Schools Named a Unified Champion School
The Special Olympics of Michigan has named Royal Oak Public School a Unified Champion School because of its sports-based strategy to inclusivity for students with and without intellectual disabilities. Royal Oak High School Unified team typically plays between the JV and Varsity games with the team made up male and female students with and without disabilities. Students partner up for their best performance on the court. Students on the team get a chance to be recognized by their school, earn a varsity letter, experience team travel, banquets, practice and learn teamwork.
